In 2020, Finns voted Savonlinna as the best summer city in Finland – for a reason!

During the whole summer season, there is a wide variety of cultural and other events covering everything from opera to art.

The sound of the historical steamships’ whistles when they depart from the harbour is frequently heard in and around the marketplace and the old, historical Savonlinna.

Olavinlinna Castle, the Finnish Forest Museum Lusto and Saimaa Art Cave Retretti are must-visit attractions – as is the biggest wooden church in the world in Kerimäki and the national landscapes in Punkaharju.

Did you know that in 2014 Wall Street Journal listed Lake Saimaa as one of the five most beautiful lake areas in the world?

Go on a lake cruise around the city centre, explore the archipelago on a boat, go canoeing or kayaking in the national parks, swim in crystal-clear waters and go SUP boarding in the evening sun.
